The Man Who Stayedis a story. It is the story of one founder who refused to walk away. It draws from real journeys — the author’s own, and those of countless other operators who built and lost and rebuilt across the last decade of Indian startups. But it is a story, not a case study, and not a playbook. This page explains what that means in practice.

1. The Book is Fictional

The Man Who Stayed is a work of fiction. While it is inspired by true events, the names of characters, companies, products, geographies, and incidents have been changed, composited, compressed in time, or invented entirely for the purposes of narrative. Where a character sounds familiar, or a scene rhymes with something you remember, that is the nature of fiction grounded in a recognisable world — it is not a documentary.

Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or to actual companies, events, or locations, is coincidental except where a real person or entity has explicitly consented to be named.

2. Not Legal, Financial, or Investment Advice

The book’s contents, the editorial pieces on this Website, the author’s newsletter, and any commentary published in the name of the book are for general awareness and entertainment only. They do not constitute legal, financial, investment, tax, accounting, regulatory, or any other form of professional advice, and they should not be relied upon as such.

Every business, every term sheet, every restructuring, and every life decision sits inside its own facts. Before you act on anything you read here, please consult a qualified professional — a chartered accountant, a company secretary, a lawyer, a SEBI-registered investment adviser, or whoever your situation calls for.

Sarabjeet Singh, CFA, the author, holds formal advisory and capital-raise mandates only through Funding Ventures, a separate professional engagement, and only under signed scope documents and applicable regulatory frameworks. Reading this book or browsing this Website does not, by itself, create any adviser-client, attorney-client, broker-client, fiduciary, or similar relationship between you and the author or Parbir Advisory Services (PHS) LLP.

3. No Defamation Intended

The book is written with care and respect for the people whose journeys, in part, shaped its themes. It is not intended to malign, defame, ridicule, or attribute wrongdoing to any identifiable person, business, family, community, religion, caste, or institution. If you believe a specific passage misrepresents you or causes genuine harm, please write to us at hello@themanwhostayed.com — we will engage with the concern in good faith and, where appropriate, correct future editions.

4. Forward-Looking Statements

Any statements in the book or on this Website about startup trajectories, market sizes, valuations, capital outcomes, or future events are illustrative and forward-looking. They are based on assumptions that may turn out to be wrong. Real businesses go up, go down, and sometimes do neither in the way you expect. Past patterns are not promises of future outcomes.

5. Affiliate Relationships

We do not currently earn affiliate commissions on the retailer links shown on this Website — Amazon, Flipkart, Kindle, Google Play Books, and others are listed purely so that you can buy the book where you already prefer to shop.

If we ever introduce affiliate links in the future, we will disclose them clearly and prominently — both on this page and next to the relevant link — and update the policy.

6. Third-Party Brand Mentions

The book and our editorial content may reference real companies, brands, products, and public figures — for example, TinyOwl, Stayzilla, Dunzo, Byju’s, Shark Tank India, and others — when discussing the broader Indian startup ecosystem. All such names, logos, trademarks, and identifying marks are the property of their respective owners. Mentions are editorial in nature, made for the purposes of commentary, criticism, or context, and are not an endorsement, affiliation, partnership, or sponsorship with or by those owners.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither Parbir Advisory Services (PHS) LLP, its designated partners, employees, affiliates, the author, nor the publisher accept liability for any loss, damage, claim, or expense — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising out of or in connection with your reading of the book, your reliance on any information on this Website, or any decision you make on the basis of that information. You read, and you act, at your own discretion.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law.

8. Contact for Corrections

We take accuracy and dignity seriously. If you spot a factual error in the editorial content on this Website, or believe the book contains a passage that warrants clarification, please write to us. We read everything, and corrections are credited in future printings where appropriate.
